Ella Birdie Wilson

Now that Ella is almost 7 weeks I suppose I should take the time to blog about her! Ella was born February 3, at 9:52 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs 4 oz, 18 3/4 inches. February 2 I had my 40 week check up, I was dilated to a 4 and about 90% effaced, I had been having mild contractions, but nothing too bad. My doctor stripped my membranes (which was the most painful thing I had experienced since I had Wyatt) and told me she should be coming soon. I went home and waited and waited and waited. Nothing happened, no contractions, nothing! I figured this little babe did not want to come out. I went to bed planning on going past my due date which was the 3rd. I woke up about 2:00 with mild contractions. I tried to go back to sleep with no luck. My contractions started getting closer together and more painful pretty fast so at 3:30 I woke Nick up and told him to go pick up my sister Brianne who was coming over to stay with Wyatt. We got to the hospital around 5:00. By then I was dilated to a 6. By the time I was hooked up to the machines and an IV it was about 6:30. When they checked me I hadn't progressed much at all so I figured we were in for a long wait. I got an epidural around 8:00 and my doctor arrived and broke my water at 8:30. By 9:30 I had only dilated to a 7. My mom and dad had come and we were all just talking and relaxing when at 9:40 I suddenly had the biggest urge to push. I told my mom to get the nurse NOW because I couldn't hold it in. She ran into the hall and called for the nurse who came nonchalantly in, probably thinking there was no way I could have possibly dilated 3 cm in 10 minutes. Well, I had! She was right there and ready to come! The nurse told me to hold her in and not push until the doctor was there. That was the meanest thing they could do! My epidural wasn't very strong so I could feel a lot of my contractions and trying to hold in a baby when told not to push was the most pain I've ever been in in my life! I was clenching my whole body and shaking like crazy. By the time the doctor was there and ready it only took 4 pushes until Ella was here! That feeling of relief and joy when your baby is out and laying on your chest is a feeling that nobody other than a mom can experience! She was completely healthy, with big eyes and dark hair. I'm so grateful for the safe and speedy labor and delivery I had. We are so happy to have Ella in our family. She is a wonderful baby. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 weeks and doesn't fuss too much. Wyatt can't get enough of his baby sissy and is constantly wanting to hold and feed her. Nick is amazing as well. I love watching him with her, he'll hold her and just look at her, it's so sweet. I'm sure she'll be daddy's little girl! I love my family of 4 and can't wait for all that is in store for us!
